How I Learned How to Feel Better After a Breakup

First, let me tell you how I discovered the 12 secrets to feeling better than ever after a rough breakup.

It was the year 2013. The almost four-year relationship with my e-girlfriend had just ended. I lay crying on the floor.

  • I thought about suicide.
  • I couldn’t look at myself.
  • I was hopeless and helpless.

I remember it as if it was yesterday:

There was this one moment when I hit rock bottom. I couldn’t take it anymore. Fuck, I couldn’t look at this miserable piece of shit in the mirror. I was done.

That’s when I decided to change my life.

guys feels hot to get better after a breakup

I was willing to do whatever it takes to learn how to feel better after a breakup. I embarked on a journey of self-improvement and self-discovery. Hundreds of failures led to one success. It took weeks until I finally felt better. It took months until I felt better than ever before.

This article can give you the same results in a couple of minutes…

1. Realize that Every Breakup Has a Purpose

Everything has a purpose in life.

I really believe that. And no, I haven’t had a load of crack for breakfast. Let me tell you why I have this belief and why a breakup can be the best thing that ever happens to you. I know, your pain stops you from believing what I say. But bear with me on this one.

Here’s my story:

When the relationship with my ex-girlfriend ended, I had no idea where life would take me. Like I said, I felt hopeless and miserable. If you had told me in 2013 that I would work as a dating coach in 2018, I would have laughed in your face.

  • I couldn’t talk to girls.
  • I had crippling social anxiety.
  • I hadn’t even traveled outside of Europe.

Today I live the life of my dreams and I could have never imagined this in my wildest dreams. I don’t say this to brag. I say this because I want you to understand something very important.

You don’t know where life will take you.

It’s okay to feel miserable after a breakup. But it’s not okay to believe the lie you’re telling yourself over and over again. Come on. You know which lie.

The lie of FOREVER…

  • “I’ll be alone FOREVER!”
  • “I’ll be depressed FOREVER!”
  • “I’ll be shy and insecure FOREVER!”

No, you won’t!

You can have an amazing life, a life that’s better than your old life…way better. This, my friend, is the purpose of your breakup. A new chapter begins. Open the book of life and start reading.

2. Celebrate Your Freedom

Have you ever heard of the divorce selfie?

Apparently, this is the latest trend on social media. Couples (or at least the one who’s happy to get out) share their divorce selfies with the world. Of course, it’s just another ridiculous attempt to get attention. But hey, if you look like this dude after reading this article, I achieved my goal.

There’s one thing these couples (or men) do right:

They celebrate that this shit is finally over.

celebrating breakup

Instead of crying over their failed marriage, failed relationship, and their stupidity to sign a government contract with an emotionally unpredictable creature, they celebrate. They are looking forward to a new life.

Heck, make a breakup selfie if it helps. And do this:

  • Host a post-breakup party with your friends.
  • Hit the club and party your breakup away.
  • Celebrate your freedom.

Don’t you think that’s better than sitting at home and wallowing in self-pity?

3. Don’t Celebrate with Alcohol and Love Songs

Yes, you should celebrate.

But you shouldn’t celebrate with alcohol. Please, don’t touch any alcoholic drink, joint, and especially crack pipe after the breakup.

I’m not a spoilsport, but…

  • I know that alcohol increases negative emotions.
  • I know that one beer leads to a second beer.
  • I know that it’s a vicious cycle.

The last thing you want is an alcohol problem on top of your “how do I feel better after a breakup problem”. I know a lot of guys who tried to fight their breakup blues with alcohol and other drugs.

Some of them never broke the cycle.

What else to avoid?

Oh before I forget it. Kick Whitney Huston, Celine Dion, and any other female singer with terrible love songs in their non-existent nuts. Love songs are worse than cocaine. They fool your mind into believing that you have to suffer.

Listen to music that makes you feel good, even if it’s Gangnam Style.

4. Make a List of All the Things You Couldn’t Do

I don’t want to badmouth about relationships.

But let’s face it. There are a lot of things you can’t do while you’re in one. It can be a comfortable cage, but a cage nonetheless. The mistake most guys make after a breakup is to think about all the things they are missing.

Instead, think about the things you could NOT do in your relationship:

  • You couldn’t sleep with other hot girls.
  • You couldn’t move to another city overnight.
  • You couldn’t travel the world without her approval.
beauty after breakup

How about her?

These are all things you couldn’t do. Now you can do that. That’s fucking amazing. For the first time in years you have the freedom to have as many women, as many travel experiences, and as many exciting adventures as you want. Don’t ever forget that.

This is how to feel better after a breakup.

A lot of guys only focus on the negative side. Yes, you don’t have anyone to cuddle right now, but that doesn’t mean that you won’t have anyone to sleep with tomorrow.

5. Be Grateful for This Immense Opportunity

A breakup is not a tragedy.

It’s an opportunity and it’s a freaking great one!

This mindset shift can make all the difference. Just think about it. Most guys who want to know how to feel better after a breakup are so busy looking at the dark clouds that they can’t see the bright blue sky.

Sure, you can wallow in self-pity.

But what does it change?

She’s gone. That’s a fact. And guess what? It’s probably the best. You might get angry at me for saying this and that’s okay. But I know from my own experience that a breakup is the start of a better life.

But only if you see it as an opportunity!

Let me give you some alternatives to the wallowing, crying, and screaming:

6. Write Down What You Want to Achieve

Let me ask you a few questions:

  • Where do you want to live in 5 years from now?
  • What kind of girls do you want to date?
  • How do you want your life to look like?

Don’t tell me you want to date your ex-girlfriend. That shit is over. It’s time for a new chapter, new women, and a new life. I’m a big fan of verbalizing your goals, but writing them down is even more effective.

Come on. Don’t be shy.

writing fown goals after breakup

Write down all the crazy dreams, high goals, and fantasies you have. Do it now. Do it before you continue with point #7. Take a piece of paper and start writing. Make a list, one bullet point for each goal.

Why is this so important?

Because it proves that your life can be freaking amazing!

Believe it or not, but can be amazing WITHOUT your ex-girlfriend, WITHOUT being in a relationship, and WITHOUT feeling sorry for yourself. I don’t want you to stop until you wrote down at least ten goals.

Are you finished? Awesome!

Look at your list and tell me how many of these goals you can achieve without your ex-girlfriend and how many are only possibly with your ex-girlfriend.

When I did this exercise back in 2013, it blew my mind.

Each and every goal I wrote down was achievable. But that’s not all. It turned out that I was more likely to achieve my goals WITHOUT my ex-girlfriend. That’s when it hit me.

I wasted so much time mourning about something that’s good for me.

7. Remind Yourself that Your Ex Will Hit the Wall

Okay, this is mean.

But hey, you’re here because you want to know how to feel better after a breakup. Sometimes healing requires extreme measures. This is one of them. And it’s all about the concept of the wall. In case you haven’t heard of it, let these women explain it to you.

Yes, women hit the wall.

Men hit the wall too, but later in life. And as a man, you can compensate with charisma, seduction skills, charm, financial stability, sense of style and all kinds of other things. Women can’t because their beauty fades and it fades fast…unless she’s Asian hehe. I mean, you just have to look at online dating statistics.

Men prefer younger women, always.

woman hitting the wall

Let’s say your ex-girlfriend is 25 and you are around the same age. Maybe you’re younger. Maybe you’re older. It doesn’t matter. The principle is the same. In ten years from now you can date a girl who’s younger and prettier than your ex-girlfriend is RIGHT NOW.

Read that again and really think about it.

And let me tell you another secret:

A lot of young girls are into older men. I know, your mom and teachers didn’t tell you that, but that’s how it is. Think about all the beautiful young girls you’ll sleep with. That’s what makes guys feel better after a breakup.

8. Take a Close Look at Your Friends and their Girlfriends

Have a look at your married and tied-down friends.

No, don’t just look at their Facebook pages. They are full of happy couple photos and “I’ll love you forever and always” comments. Look them in the eyes and tell me what you see.

  • Some men are in happy relationships.
  • A lot of men are in unhappy relationships.
  • You always see it by the way they look at you.

Become an observer. This will help you to get realistic about your fears. When you try to recover from a breakup, it’s easy to assume that everyone on the goddamn planet is in a happy relationship while you’re lonely.

Get realistic.

There are happy relationships and there are unhappy relationships. That’s the reality of life. And that’s a way healthier reality than to believe that all your friends are so happy with their girlfriends.

You might be happier alone than they are with their girlfriends.

9. Become Better than the Man Your Ex Dated

Think about how much time you have to improve your life.

  • You don’t have to go on boring couple dates.
  • You don’t have to spend hours discussing shit.
  • You don’t even have to waste time texting your ex.

You have so much free time. Don’t waste it!

Instead, improve on all levels. Become better than the man your ex dated. Forget about your old self. It’s dead. You are ready for a rebirth. Say “goodbye” to the video game addicted couch potato that you’ve become during your relationship.

Say “hello” to…

  • Learning a new language.
  • Working on your social skills.
  • Improving your physical health.

In some cases, the desire for revenge is a positive motivator. This is one of those cases. Tell yourself “I will show her how great I am”.

Then show her how great you are.

She’ll mourn after you for the rest of her life.

10. Do Things You’ve Never Done Before

Improving your body and your mind is only the beginning.

As a guy who wants to know how to feel better after a breakup, you have to look uncertainty in the eyes and give it a big fat kiss. Hug that motherfucker and squeeze it until uncertainty turns into certainty.

Yes, you are certain.

  • You are certain that uncertainty is your friend.
  • You are certain that adventure is your path.
  • You are certain that you can do it.

Do what?

Well, it can be anything. Do something you’ve never done before, something you are afraid of. I don’t want you to wrestle with an alligator, but what about traveling to a country that has alligators?

Let’s face it:

Most couple holidays consist of all-inclusive resorts in the same popular tourist destinations. Visit countries that scream adventure. Visit countries with beautiful women. Approach a few local girls. Feel the fear and do it anyway.

He more you embrace uncertainty, the better you’ll feel after a breakup.

11. Approach Girls You Weren’t Allowed to Seduce

Did I just say you should approach girls?

Yes, a lot of them!

You are wild and free. Okay, right now you’re only free. You haven’t been wild in a long time. You’re like a tamed tiger. You broke free from your cage. But you don’t know how to live and survive in the wilderness.

It’s time to leave your cage and run!

tiger free after a breakup

Run as fast as you can and approach the first girl you meet on your journey. Then approach another girl. With every approach you get better and better. Every time you talk to a beautiful woman, you’ll feel better and better.

You have the freedom to seduce whoever you want.

Not many men have this freedom. Even the ones who have it don’t use it. You’re different because you’re a Global Seducer.

Then rise like a Phoenix from the ashes…

Summed Up Wisdom

You’re a guy who wants to know how to feel better after a breakup. Maybe you feel hopeless and helpless. I know this feeling too well. I’ve been in this situation. Heck, I even though about suicide. But you should think about a fresh start.

That’s the mindset you need to have. Most guys wallow in self-pity. Only a few are able to see what’s so obvious. Your breakup is an opportunity, a chance, and yes, it can be the best damn thing that ever happened to you. There’s a purpose.

But you have to take action. Unless you become better, do new things, and grow as a man, nothing will change. If you, however, do whatever it takes to feel better after your breakup, you’ll soon feel on top of the world.
